Elizabeth Swearingen

Associate Drama Therapist

Elizabeth is a second year Masters Candidate in the New York University Drama Therapy Program. She has worked with a variety of populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including Lenox Hill Hospital and the VA Hospital in previous drama therapy internships. Elizabeth has been interested in exploring how different creative arts therapy modalities can be integrated into the treatment process. Elizabeth is also an actor, playwright, and teaching artist. She received her conservatory training at Circle in the Square Theatre School, and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in creative writing from the Thomas Hunter Honors Program at Hunter College, CUNY. As a teaching artist specializing in acting and playwriting, Elizabeth has worked with children and adolescents in NYC public and private schools developing and implementing original curriculum with students. She is passionate about fostering creativity to facilitate individual growth and create a sense of community and possibility.
