FAQs about insurance

Individual Creative Arts Therapy services are covered by some insurance plans. Our usual policy is to provide you with an invoice coded for insurance submission. If your plan reimburses for out-of-network "Behavioral Health" or "Mental Health" there is a good possibility you will be covered. Keep in mind that most plans require you to pay a deductible first and to contribute a co-payment. The mental health practitioner license we operate under in New York is titled "LCAT" and stands for Licensed Creative Arts Therapist. You can call your plan in advance to learn what benefits are available to you. If your insurance does not cover our services, we are happy to work with you to determine a reasonable fee.

We accept cash, checks, and credit cards for payment.

We are an in-network provider for CIGNA plans only.

Many out-of-network plans will reimburse a significant portion of our fee.

Here are some helpful questions to ask your insurance provider before your first session?

1) Do you accept out-of-network behavioral health or mental health providers?

2) Is there a limit on the number of sessions I am entitled to per year?

3) Do I have a deductible? If yes, how much is it?

4) Do you require pre-approval or a referral from an MD or Primary Care Physician?

5) What is my co-pay?

6) Is my coverage different for biological vs. non-biological conditions?

7) Which of the following treatment services do you cover?

• Individual psychotherapy
• Interactive psychotherapy (for children)
• Family therapy, w/o patient present
• Family therapy, with patient present
