Shanay Johnson received her music therapy Master's degree from New York University. She completed her clinical training at The Louis Armstrong Center for Music & Medicine. Shanay incorporates a combination of music therapy, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and talk therapy techniques in her therapy sessions. She uses a trauma-informed approach to a wide range of clinical issues, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and more. Shanay also has extensive experience walking patients suffering from severe and terminal medical illnesses, through the myriad of challenges of coping. Shanay helps her therapy clients to identify barriers to a higher quality of life while cultivating compassion and the ability to discover one's own empowered inner wisdom along the way. She believes in the creative process as a means toward gaining deeper insight and making meaningful, integrated connections with ourselves and others. In addition to her music therapy training, Shanay holds a BA in Music from Westminster Choir College where she studied voice. She also pursued theological studies and church music at Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
