Larissa is warm, relatable, and quirky. She is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for each of her clients. She draws from her experience as a first generation American Caribbean female, as well as her years of experience working in a wide variety of mental health settings. Larissa finds combining art therapy and EMDR to be a great approach, allowing access to deeper processing, while also fully connecting with one’s authentic self. Treatment begins by learning grounding techniques for a strong foundation of internal support to access when processing  trauma. Careful reflection on how things are going between sessions provides clarity and direction to the process. All that is required to begin working together is a commitment to heal.

“When I myself went through a traumatic experience in my teens, art was the coping mechanism that I employed. I have desired to be a therapist since High School and pursued this dream ever since. I enjoy utilizing my personal culture and experiences in my work. I like to combine both EMDR and the creative arts in my work with clients, especially in processing trauma.”

One approach to reintroduce color into our lives can be through art. During the pandemic, when everything seemed to be shutting down and the colors were fading, this mural was created.
