Andrea has a Masters in Art Therapy and Counseling from College of Mount Saint Vincent (formerly The College of New Rochelle). Andrea is also trained in Pain Reprocessing Therapy and the Safe and Sound trauma protocol. Her dynamic, down-to-earth approach engages a wide variety of art materials for self-expression and communication. In therapy sessions, Andrea brings a welcoming, caring and playful stance which encourages curiosity, self-compassion, insight and personal growth. She is particularly interested in the study of trauma and attachment, and excited by the ways creative interventions can have healing effects on our neurobiology. Andrea also holds a BA in Fine Arts from Amherst College. Prior to studying art therapy, Andrea worked professionally in publishing as a photo editor; designed and illustrated her own line of children's t-shirts, and worked as a Visual Manager for a prominent retail brand. Most recently, Andrea taught art at a progressive elementary and middle school in the Hudson Valley. As a special education teaching assistant she worked with autistic children. Andrea's range of experience has afforded her a comprehensive knowledge of creative materials and techniques. In her personal artwork, Andrea is drawn to photography, sculpture and painting.
