Larissa is a licensed, registered and board-certified Art Therapist with over ten years of experience. Larissa puts her patients at ease with her down to earth demeanor and an endearing sense of humor. She uses both talk and creative interventions to help clients reduce mental distress. She is skilled at making the process of therapy and the neurobiology of anxiety accessible to patients in order to help them better understand and identify their emotional triggers. Larissa also enjoys helping people discover new communication styles and coping strategies to navigate difficult life transitions and relationships to live more fully. She has expertise in working with bi-cultural teenagers and young adults dealing with the challenges of finding their place between cultures. Larissa's joins New York Creative Arts Therapists after having developed a Creative Art Therapy unit at a Brooklyn hospital, where she managed and nurtured a staff of creative arts therapists for seven years. Larissa is a true lover of the arts and its healing properties, previously working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art while obtaining her BFA at the School of Visual Arts and her Masters in Creative Art Therapy at Pratt Institute. She previously served two terms on the board of the New York Art Therapy Association as the treasurer and facilitated events that supported fellow Art Therapists and mental health awareness events in New York. On her free time Larissa takes care of her own wellbeing with painting and playing with textiles and mixed media.
