As a co-founder of New York Creative Therapists, Nadia brings 25 years of experience to her supervision and work as a therapist. Her integrated use of art making, talk, narrative work, and humor has helped her clients deal with trauma, manage stress, relationships, and other growing pains. She loves helping parents face family challenges with patience and understanding for themselves and their children. As clinical director, she oversees and mentors staff and interns in delivering the most effective clinical services possible, with special attention to the unique needs and experience of each family, individual, and agency served. Nadia understands that many people’s struggles stem from social disease as well as internal conflicts, and therefore uses an approach that is informed by feminist, anti-racist and socially critical lenses.

“It’s a sad and beautiful world” – Roberto Benigni in Down by Law, by Jim Jarmush

Something that matters to me

I try to always find the beauty in every situation. Art has the capacity to hold both beauty and pain. That’s what makes it so powerful. Through art we can transform our suffering into something that invites us to look, and stay a while.  This way we can start to accept even the most difficult parts of our lives. As long as we just try, there is hope for change.
