Welcome to the Practice Portal for New York Creative Therapists, a NYS licensed psychotherapy practice.

Get Started with Therapy

The first step is to find a therapist who looks like a good fit for you or your family member. Once you book a free 15-minute phone consultation you can set up an appointment with your therapist for a first session. Our therapists all hold master’s degrees in a mental health profession licensed by New York State and are trained to work with adults, couples, families, adolescents, and children. We have creative studio space offices in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and Cold Spring, Hudson Valley.

Fees and Insurance

We try to make it easy. We file claims for both in-network and out-of-network insurance. We accept Aetna and Medicare in-network. For Cigna, MVP, Healthfirst, Fidelis, and CDPHP we charge an additional materials fee. We file out of network claims for United Healthcare, BCBS, Emblem, and Carelon (formerly Beacon Health). If you are unsure about your coverage,  our client concierge will verify all of your insurance information including deductible, copays, coinsurance and all other out-of-pocket costs to you.

$250 for 50-minutes creative arts therapy and psychotherapy, $325 for 75-minute EMDR, family therapy, or extended therapy sessions. Low fee options: our therapists in training, working under the supervision of experienced therapists, can see clients for fees between $30-90/session.

Our practice policies

We have a 48-hour cancellation policy

If you must cancel a session, please give at least 48 hours notice or you will be charged for the missed appointment. If your therapist is able to reschedule your appointment in the same week, you will not be charged for the missed appointment. If you use insurance to pay for therapy, your plan will not cover a missed session and you will be responsible for the full amount normally billed to insurance.

Email communication is recommended

Throughout the course of therapy, there will be times when we will communicate with each other by various means. Our preferred method for scheduling is by e-mail. Personal communications or questions that should be discussed during session are not appropriate for e-mail correspondence. Email is not a secure or confidential method of communication so personal information is best reserved for therapy sessions.

Therapy sessions are confidential

Clients have the right to expect complete confidentiality except as required by law: 1. If client indicates a threat of serious harm to self or others, 2. If therapist has reasonable suspicion of abuse or neglect of a child, or abuse, neglect or exploitation of an incapacitated or dependent adult, 3. Court Order 4. Voluntary release signed by client or guardian.

Making a commitment to weekly therapy

Clients can expect a solution-oriented, strengths-based approach to therapy. It is recommended that clients commit to three months of therapy. After this initial engagement, you and your therapist can more accurately discuss the expected length of treatment. Frequency and number of appointments are guided by the needs of the client. Typically, our clients meet one or two times per week.
