Adult Therapy using the creative arts offers an effective and innovative alternative to "just talk." The addition of creative expression and thought provoking interventions into the therapeutic process is an increasingly popular approach for folks who process the world and their experiences differently.

Adult therapy using creative arts can include visual arts, sculpture, music, voice, digital technology, storytelling, dramatic play, poetry, and theater improvisation in the therapeutic process. Tackling life’s challenges with creativity can lead to a new kind of awareness and unexpected clarity on issues that may seem intractable. The result is a newfound ability to imagine different solutions and better outcomes, and relief from mild to serious emotional distress.

In addition to the creative arts therapies many of our therapists have additional training in evidence-based models of treatment including:
• EMDR
• Somatic Experiencing
• Trauma Focused CBT
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
• Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
• Ecotherapy
• Internal Family Systems (IFS)
and more

An experienced team of adult therapists using creative arts and talk therapy

All of our therapists are licensed to practice creative arts therapy in New York State as Licensed Creative Arts Therapists (LCAT). This means that they have completed a nationally accredited, masters level training program and have met the requirements for licensing in the state.  This license guarantees proper experience in the practice and ethics of psychotherapy.  All of our therapists receive on-going supervision and continuing education to maintain the highest standards of care and to stay up-to-date on new research and developments in the field of mental health treatment.

Rather than giving you specific advice, your psychotherapist serves as a skilled listener, observer and guide who helps you clarify issues, discover wishes, and explore feelings through both verbal and non-verbal means. With this improved understanding of the patterns and beliefs that inform how you live your life, you can more effectively address the issues that are causing you distress.

Our mission is to provide effective psychotherapy in a nurturing and creative environment; to promote a healthy balance of work and play in our clients’ lives as well as our own.
