How the work is different for us: When neurodivergent therapists work with neurodivergent clients
-
Participants will learn about neurodiversity through the lens of cultural humility, viewing it as a shared culture between client and therapist and the ways in which cultural matching impacts the therapeutic relationship.
-
Participants will be able to identify when they may be over-identifying with their clients, how this shows up in the sessions (transference/ counter transference), and what to do about it.
-
Participants will be able to identify the warning signs of neurodivergent burnout and how to recover from it (different from work or caregiver burnout) and how to prevent it (may include art directive).
Presented by Nico Santamorena, MA, LCAT-lp
Nico is a clinician who is passionate about embracing neurodiversity, LGTBQ+ issues, and reducing shame in her clients—and herself. They are excited to bring this topic to other neurodivergent therapists, to collaborate, and to identify ways in which therapists can model resilience and change in service of their clients.
